Lewis A. Phillips
Lewis A. Phillips was born in Lawrence, Kansas. He graduated from KU with a BS in chemical engineering, and he received a MS in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Lew's business career involved management positions in manufacturing, sales, and finance in the chemical and paper industries. His last position was as director of strategic planning for the pulp and paper side of Georgia Pacific Corporation. He retired in 1996. With his wife, Carolyn, he returned to Lawrence where his family has deep roots. His grandfather was born in Lawrence in 1865, which provides a basis for Lew’s interest in Lawrence history and the Watkins Museum.
