We have the Old Sacramento cannon, a Mexican War cannon, that was captured by Missourians and then captured again by Free-staters from the Missourians. The most noticable feature of Old Sacramento is the breach in the side. That did not happen during the struggles in the 1850's and 1860's, but occurred when they would use this cannon to try to raise drowned bodies from the Kansas River in the 1880's and 1890's. Once they put in too much powder and blew out the side. |
