“Aunt” Jane Williams, the Queen of the East Bottoms

This episode closes out Women’s History Month with the infamous “Aunt” Jane Williams who was the richest Black woman in Lawrence at the turn of the 20th century. How did she become so wealthy? Jane and her family operated a speakeasy in East Lawrence during Kansas Prohibition.
