Remembering Glenn Kappelman: A Life of Service

7/29 @ 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm

Glenn Kappelman led an extraordinary life. A WWII veteran known for the images he captured using an illicit camera during the war, Kappelman later took a prominent role in Lawrence’s growth during the latter half of the 20th century. He helped achieve the Lawrence Fair Housing Ordinance of 1967, supported social services such as the Women’s Transitional Care Facility (today known as the Willow Domestic Violence Center), and worked with the Douglas County Historical Society as the city celebrated its centennial.

Join us on Final Friday as we celebrate Glenn Kappelman’s life and legacy. Speakers will talk about Glenn and introduce his photographic collection at the Spencer Research Library. Light refreshments will be available.
