Cherrie’s love of history began at an early age.  Her father was an elementary teacher and would plan summer trips to historical sites, museums, and national parks.  Following in her dad’s footsteps she became a teacher and spent 30 years teaching in schools in northeast Kansas.  Cherrie finished her teaching career with the Lawrence Public Schools in 2019.  Working with young people and having them learn something new, unexpected, or inspiring has always been a joy in her life.  Combining her years in the education field with her high interest in stories of the past, Cherrie strives to positively influence the youngest patrons of the Watkins.
