Potter’s Field History Harvest

11/19/22 @ 1:00 pm 2:30 pm

Open green field with a long tree line in the distance.. Above the tree line is a bright blue sky.

Come learn about the Oak Hill Cemetery Potter’s Field and the Remembrance Project, ask questions, and take part in “history harvests” to help memorialize all those buried there.

Following a presentation from Dr. Blair Schneider (Kansas Geological Survey) and Caleb Latas (Project Director) about the history and use of the potter’s field, take part in the “history harvest!”

During the hourlong history harvest, if you have a story, photograph, document, etc. about the potter’s field or someone buried there and would like to share it with us, please come to one of our table stations. If you have a story to share, and you feel comfortable doing so, we may ask to record you via audio or camera. If you have a photograph, document, etc. we will photograph or scan it. We will have many volunteers standing by who can also answer any questions you may have. This is the first of several history harvest events to come, so you can always contribute another time. You may also contribute through our online form on the project webpage.

This event is hybrid, so if you can’t attend in person please join us live online for both the presentation and history harvest, via the Watkins Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter.

All items shared with the Oak Hill Cemetery Potter’s Field Remembrance Project remain the property of the items’ owners.
