See Lawrence: Parks & Green Spaces

| Second Floor

Parks & Green Spaces Art Projects enlisted local artists to celebrate outdoor spaces in the spirit of the beloved WPA-era National parks posters of the 1930s and ’40s.

In partnership with Lawrence Magazine and Sunflower Publishing, the Parks & Green Spaces Art Project commissioned local artists to channel the majestic visual style developed by Depression-era artists. Through this lens, but with a unique and modern interpretation, artists designed new images illustrating community parks and green spaces. The artworks challenge the viewer to look at their parks and green spaces with new eyes and fresh curiosity, encouraging them to visit, and to find their own unique connection and sense of wonder in local outdoor spaces.
