Evie Rapport and her husband believe in moving back to Lawrence every few decades and are pleased to have returned in 2002 after 25 years in Greater Kansas City. She holds a bachelor’s in theatre education and a master’s in journalism from KU and was an editor and writer for The Kansas City Star for 27 years, mostly in the Arts & Entertainment Department. She was a special projects editor for KU’s Marketing Communications division for 10 years before retiring. She has focused a lifelong interest in history on Lawrence’s early years and the founding and growth of KU, presenting courses on related topics for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and other organizations. She served on the Lawrence Arts Commission and her neighborhood association board. She and her husband, Michael, a retired professional actor, have two sons and two grandchildren.
