John taught fifth and sixth grade in the Lawrence public school system for thirty years and served as the photographer for the Watkins Museum of History for fifteen years. Since retiring from teaching several years ago, he has continued to work at the museum as administrative assistant and business manager. His additional responsibilities include leading local history tours and providing historical information to school groups.
